Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Training
As an approved CDL training provider, M State offers entry-level driver training to meet current regulations (last changed on Feb. 7, 2022). Instruction includes theory, as well as range and road training.

About Class A CDL Training
- Short course
- 20-30 hours of self-paced online theory training
- 20 hours of behind-the-wheel range and road training, one-on-one with an instructor
- Convenient locations
- Offered at M State's Detroit Lakes, Moorhead and Wadena campuses
- Fully unrestricted Class A License
- All ELDT regulations followed
Before beginning CDL Class A training, drivers must submit a copy of their Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) and DOT health card. Driving records will be checked, queries run through the Federal Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, and a drug test will be needed.
About Class B CDL Training
- Short course
- 20-30 hours of self-paced online theory training
- 15 hours of behind-the-wheel range and road training, one-on-one with an instructor
- Convenient locations
- Offered at M State's Detroit Lakes, Moorhead and Wadena campuses
- All ELDT regulations followed
